The E-Waste Column (EdTech, innovation, and news platform)

The E-Waste Column is an educational initiative and impact ecosystem of the social enterprise, Palsa & Pulk. It was founded by Christine Nikander in September 2022 with the aim to close knowledge gaps, connect stakeholders, and create action around e-waste and electronics circularity. Over the years, The E-Waste Column has grown into an EdTech, innovation, and news platform. Today, it serves different stakeholders across four interconnected hubs: learning, innovation, action, and career. As a multi-stakeholder platform, The E-Waste Column now acts as a type of "circular transition broker".

Since being established, The E-Waste Column has helped thousands of users to understand the social and environmental impacts of electronic devices throughout their whole lifecycle and their entire global supply chains. ​In recognition of this impact, it was featured in The Bloom's 30 Under 30 Social Impact list in December 2024 and invited to join UNIDO's Global Electronics Management Programme as a stakeholder in October 2025.

The E-Waste Column is a weekly column about e-waste, transition minerals, and critical raw materials. It touches on a range of topics including ESG, sustainable development, circular economy, EU law and policymaking, corporate social responsibility, the transition to renewable energy, the EU Green Deal, supply chain due diligence and auditing, human environmental rights, business and human rights, climate law, and corporate sustainability.

The E-Waste Podcast is a new podcast that will cover ways to better manage e-waste globally and move towards more electronics circularity. The podcast's aim is to capture the depth of the unwritten knowledge and practical know-how found amongst entrepreneurs, investors, policymakers, academics, and experts working in the sector. Throughout each of its episodes, the podcast will highlight the role that circularity and the sustainable management of electronics lifecycles and supply chains play in advancing global progress on the Sustainable Development Goals.

The E-Waste Learning Hub (for companies)​

The E-Waste Learning Hub is an e-learning platform focused on raw materials, e-waste, the circular economy, and the energy transition. It has been designed for companies in the electronics, technology, mining, waste management, renewable energy, and related sectors looking to train their employees. It can be used to help existing employees attain a broader understanding of electronics lifecycles and supply chains or to help new employees – who have joined from another sector or field – in getting up to speed quickly and easily.

The E-Waste Learning Hub strives to be the easiest place to understand electronics lifecycles and supply chains. It currently offers text-based learning through 150+ short-format modules, and it will soon also offer easily accessible oral education through a podcast. The modular structure in the course content allows you to pick and choose the exact topics you are looking to understand, so you can start and end with what is most relevant to you.​

In line with this, the learning hub aims to encourage society at large to explore how to design, produce, use, and engage with tech in more ethical and sustainable ways. Amongst others, its learning modules aim to help readers and users to explore how tech can be used to protect our planet or to contribute to the upholding of social and labor rights globally.
