After 10 years of working in #circularity, I have put together a list featuring 100 people and organizations, who I think you should follow. The list is being released across 25 posts until Christmas. I therefore like to think of it as an unconventional #zerowaste alternative to an advent calendar — packed with little stories and wisdoms as we close out this year.
In this third post, I am focusing on people and organizations advocating for an economic and financial transition over to circularity. In light of that, here are four truly inspiring individuals to follow, who are pushing for systemic change in our #economy. I recommend looking into their work and buying their books or subscribing to their newsletters.
9) Elin Bergman is often called the “Circular Economy Queen of Sweden”. She co-founded the Nordic Circular Hotspot, she was a founding member of the Circular Economy Coalition, and she co-authored the book “The Customer is the Planet”. Elin is the vice chairman at Cradlenet Sweden, and she regularly gives talks and speaks on podcasts about the importance of accelerating the transition to a circular economy.
10) Hilde Sijbring is a trailblazer in circular finance. She co-founded the Circular Finance Lab, and she currently works as a senior policy advisor on circular economy at the Dutch Banking Association. Her work revolves around leveraging finance as a catalyst for the circular economy. In this context, Hilde uses her 15 years of financial experience to integrate circularity into core financial processes and push the financial sector – and therewith the economy as a whole – towards more circularity.
11) Sabine Rau-Oberhuber is considered to be one of the early pioneers of the circular economy. Through her work, Sabine pushes businesses and the public sector to adapt and implement circular strategies and projects. She has contributed to shaping both the early business models and current thinking around how to transition from a linear to a circular economy. Sabine is currently the chairman of the supervisory board at the Holland Circular Hotspot. She is also a keynote speaker and the co-author of the bestselling book “Material Matters”.
12) Vojtech Vosecky is a circular economist. He has been working in circularity for 10 years. In 2015, he co-founded the Institut Cirkulární Ekonomiky, z. ú. to move the corporate, civil, and governmental sectors in Central Europe towards circularity. Through his current work at Circle Economy and The Circular Economist, Vojtech helps organizations produce less waste, while increasing their revenue. He also writes The Loop Newsletter, and he has created a course for aspiring circular economists.
